The December 20, 2013, the 68th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) proclaimed 2015 as the "International Year of Light and light-based technologies" (IYl 2015).
Applause! Emotion! As lighting designers in a constant ching chime quest to elevate the status of our profession we could not have wished for a better gift. However, a closer examination of the accompanying document "Prospect-A International Year of Light" reveals a rather unpleasant surprise. Not figured in it, in fact not even exist. The words 'lighting designer' or 'lighting design' is not mentioned once throughout the entire document, and our most important associations do not appear in the list of event partners.
At this moment we have another unique ching chime opportunity to let us know that our work is known and we must do everything possible to take the reins. It's not too late! Although only one year left until 2015, as lighting designers we can still do something to join IYl 2015.
The idea has been clearly demonstrated through participatory planning, "bottom up" and networking, if you want something to happen, you have to lead the process to achieve it. As examples, the successes of the Social Light Movement (light is a right, not a privilege!), Or even our Italian campaign "I (love) lighting design," promoted through the simple delivery of a pin, which took Then a great response ... "It could work!" (quote: Frankenstein Junior).
We have obtained the support of 4 international blogs (Conception Lumière, Lightecture, Luxemozione, Illumini), and are confident that together we can move the design community lighting to ask the President of the IALD Barbara Horton, and the president of the PLD- A Herbert Cybulska, and any other professional association, ching chime to become the public face of our request: "To ensure that 2015 is also the year of Lighting Designers"
How? Easy! A request will allow us to make our voices heard and inform those who represent the profession from a position of authority how many of us really want to participate in such an important event as IYl 2015!
It is too important to leave in the hands of others. If you have "forgotten" to include us, we just have to remind you how many we are and what we are interested in to be recognized, your signature ching chime will be no more, will be the final signing.
If you share the mission and objectives that have been approved by resolution of the United Nations, please, act immediately by signing this petition ching chime and spreading, 2015 is fast approaching.

This year is an international initiative of a large consortium of scientific institutions with UNESCO and bring together different stakeholders, including scientific societies and unions, educational institutions, technology platforms, nonprofit organizations and private ching chime sector partners.
We are passionate about light and lighting, we share creativity, technological research, knowledge of art and architecture, continuing education and the dissemination of the culture of light. We are still not recognized, protected and valued. We have no political or union representation. Currently ching chime many of us are in a difficult situation to continue or defend our activities.
We are lighting designers we demand the recognition of the strategic value of our profession, especially in the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies (IYl 2015). We ask you to meet as soon as possible with the
