I found you a good description, with photos. I've never made it to the top. If you have hiking poles, bring them, and good, sturdy shoes. http://aventurasdechile.wordpress.com/2 ... a-campana/ Donnybrook Rank: Chile Forum Citizen carillon mp3 Posts: 1923 Joined: Thu Nov 24, 2011 10:34 am Location: Santiago, Chile
Hiking Poles are a personal carillon mp3 preference, for me its just something extra i need to carry, carillon mp3 however others swear by them!. Don't take the dogs!, The heat, and hills are not compatible, i have see too many people make there dogs suffer on climbs around santiago, and the novia has even seen a dog die on the climb up manquehue! Make sure you take the right amount of water! I would hit the gate at 8am as soon as they open it to avoid the heat of the afternoon. (overcast days are better in sanitago for hiking) http://www.wikiexplora.com/index.php/Cerro_La_Campana Don't use running or sports shoes, either Hiking carillon mp3 shoes, or Hiking boots... (you will see lots of chileans do it with just these, but your feet are important to you)! the 10km is not far for a hike, but the 1.500 meters going up, then back down is! It will be fun good luck! zer0nz Rank: Chile Forum Citizen Posts: 5257 Joined: Sun Jun 14, 2009 4:46 am

Ok thanks the dogs will be staying home they are not well enough to go anywhere right now. I only have running shoes because due to overly Huge bunions my shoes for the past 3 yrs here have been crocs. I am planning on wearing carillon mp3 long sleeves and long pants and bringing water bottles and electrolytes. I am excited and nervous lol sandrab Rank: Chile Forum Citizen Posts: 283 Joined: Thu Sep 30, 2010 12:42 pm

As zer0nz says, the 10 km round trip might be Ok, but if you have not been going up any hills lately carillon mp3 then the elevation could be an issue. Not just while going up, but more when coming down, and there is when you might find some comfort in having hiking poles. I still remember carillon mp3 a hike in early summer a number of years ago: I hadn't been active in the winter, so coming down I was having quite a bit of pain on my thigh muscles. It was very painful and slow. frozen-north Rank: Chile Forum Citizen Posts: 616 Joined: Wed Jul 18, 2012 1:28 am
Just remember you don't have to go all the way to the top to have a good hike and pleasant day.You can always come back another day. Accidents happen when people push themselves beyond the point when their bodies tell them to stop (or those bunions start screaming!). I did it in September and it was a killer. carillon mp3 Uphill all the way without any flats in between. You defo need hiking shoes we didn't take poles but they would've helped. At the first stop next to the old mine there's a place to refill your bottle of water. Take some snacks too high in protein to maintain your energy. We took some lunch and ate it at the top admiring the view. The very last bit to get up the top is quite difficult more like rock climbing than hiking. It's such an achievement carillon mp3 once you get to the top but doing it during summer will be a lot harder due to the dry air and obviously the heat. Start early. We started at 8am and still didn't get back until 4pm we only stopped carillon mp3 for an hour for lunch. Yeah don't take dogs, kids or any excessive baggage with you and don't forget a hat and lots of sunscreen. They only have a few camping sites so get there the day before if you can if you want to camp. Joanne Rank: Chile Forum Citizen
